TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR UNDERBODY ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTION
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR UNDERBODY ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTION
1. Scope of Service
Underbody anti-corrosion protection is a professional service intended to slow down and prevent the formation and further development of corrosion on permanent metal parts of the vehicle body and chassis structure.
The protection is carried out individually, depending on the vehicle's construction, age, previous condition, degree of corrosion, and accessibility of individual areas.
The materials used and the treatment method depend on the specific vehicle and the condition of its underbody. We use a professional Dinitrol system of products specifically intended for automotive anti-corrosion protection.
2. Work Procedure
The standard procedure includes:
-
inspection of the vehicle and assessment of the condition of the underbody;
-
removal of components that prevent proper treatment, where necessary;
-
thorough washing and cleaning of the underbody;
-
removal of dirt, deposits, and loose remnants of previous coatings;
-
mechanical treatment of accessible surface corrosion;
-
chemical treatment using an appropriate product for corrosion neutralisation and stabilisation, where required;
-
drying of the treated surfaces;
-
application of the appropriate Dinitrol anti-corrosion coating;
-
protection of appropriate cavities and internal body sections, where included in the agreed service package;
-
final inspection of the completed work.
The procedure may vary from vehicle to vehicle. Complete removal of deep corrosion cannot be guaranteed without prior or additional bodywork repair.
3. Areas Covered by the Protection
Within the agreed service package, protection is primarily applied to permanent body and chassis structures, including:
-
vehicle floor and underbody;
-
sills and internal sections of the sills;
-
panel seams and joints;
-
chassis rails and structural members;
-
permanent metal body components;
-
accessible internal and external sections of the chassis structure;
-
certain underbody components that form an integral structural part of the vehicle;
-
body cavities, where included in the agreed service package;
-
other metal areas where anti-corrosion protection is technically justified.
The exact scope of protection depends on the vehicle's construction and the agreed service package.
4. Areas and Components Excluded from Protection
Anti-corrosion coatings are not applied to components whose function, servicing, or replacement requires them to remain clean and accessible.
This particularly includes:
-
brake discs;
-
brake pads and other friction surfaces;
-
brake calipers and components whose operation could be affected by the coating;
-
rubber boots and gaiters;
-
rubber bushes and silent blocks;
-
rubber mounts;
-
joints and moving components;
-
suspension components designed to be replaced as separate components;
-
suspension arms and control arms, unless expressly agreed otherwise;
-
driveshafts, CV joints and other moving drivetrain components, unless expressly agreed otherwise;
-
exhaust systems and their operating surfaces;
-
sensors, electrical connectors and electrical components;
-
working surfaces of shock absorbers and piston rods;
-
belts and other moving components;
-
surfaces that must remain accessible for inspection, adjustment or servicing;
-
protective metal shields and plastic covers whose function is to mechanically protect other components.
During application, incidental traces or small particles of protective material may occur on individual components. Such traces do not constitute intentional protection of those components and do not represent a defect in the service, provided that they do not affect the component's function.
5. Corrosion and Structural Damage
Standard anti-corrosion protection is not a substitute for bodywork repair.
Surface corrosion is, depending on accessibility and the condition of the surface, mechanically treated and, where necessary, chemically stabilised before the protective coating is applied.
In cases of deep corrosion, perforation, damaged seams, cracked metal panels, or structurally weakened components, bodywork repair must be carried out beforehand.
If such repair is not included in the agreed service, Old School Cars accepts no responsibility for existing structural damage located beneath or in the immediate vicinity of the protected surface.
Anti-corrosion protection does not restore the mechanical strength of metal that has already been severely corroded or perforated.
6. Existing Coatings and Previous Repairs
If the vehicle already has factory-applied or aftermarket protective coatings, their complete removal is not automatically included in the standard service.
Loose, detached, or unsuitable layers are removed to the extent necessary to properly prepare the accessible surface.
Complete removal of all existing coatings, bitumen, underseal, protective compounds, or other layers constitutes an additional procedure and may be agreed separately.
7. Vehicle Jacking and Support Points
Areas where the vehicle is supported on a lift or stands during the work may remain inaccessible for coating application.
After the vehicle has been lowered, additional protection may be applied to previously inaccessible areas where technically possible.
The absence of coating at a support point does not constitute a defect if the area was inaccessible during the application process.
8. Duration of the Work
The time required to complete the service depends on:
-
vehicle size;
-
vehicle construction;
-
quantity and condition of existing coatings;
-
degree of corrosion;
-
accessibility of the underbody;
-
time required for washing, drying and surface preparation.
The usual vehicle retention period is 1–2 working days. Larger vehicles, vehicles with significant corrosion, or vehicles requiring more extensive preparation may require additional time.
9. Warranty on the Completed Protection
Old School Cars provides a 10-year voluntary warranty on the completed anti-corrosion protection, subject to the conditions set out in this document.
The warranty applies to the quality and durability of the protective system applied to surfaces that were included in the agreed service.
The warranty does not constitute a guarantee that no form of corrosion will occur on the vehicle during the following ten years.
Corrosion may occur as a result of mechanical damage, stone impact, traffic accidents, subsequent repairs, welding, removal or disturbance of the protective coating, improper washing, or other external influences.
10. Requirement for Maintaining the Warranty
In order to maintain the warranty, the vehicle must be presented for an annual inspection.
During the inspection, accessible protected surfaces are examined for possible mechanical damage to the protective layer and for any new areas of corrosion.
If damage to the protective layer is identified, timely repair is recommended.
The annual inspection does not mean that all subsequent repairs are automatically provided free of charge.
Free corrective work under the warranty applies to defects in the original application or protective system itself. Damage caused by external influences or subsequent work is subject to separate assessment.
11. Warranty Exclusions
The warranty does not cover:
-
new corrosion resulting from mechanical damage to the protective layer;
-
damage caused by stone impact or other mechanical impact;
-
damage caused by a traffic accident;
-
corrosion occurring after subsequent welding or bodywork repairs;
-
components that were not included in the agreed protection;
-
components to which protective coating is not applied under these terms;
-
corrosion resulting from a design defect or water ingress not related to the protective treatment performed;
-
corrosion resulting from improper or subsequent intervention by third parties;
-
damage caused by improper washing, cleaning, or other procedures performed after completion of the service;
-
deep corrosion and perforation that existed prior to the service and requires bodywork repair.
These terms do not limit any statutory rights granted to consumers under applicable law.
12. Claims and Complaints
In the event of a concern regarding the quality or proper execution of the service, the customer must allow Old School Cars to inspect the vehicle and the affected area.
Any claim will be assessed on the basis of an inspection of the vehicle, documentation relating to the service performed, and other relevant circumstances.
Photographs may be provided as supporting documentation; however, photographs alone may not be sufficient to determine the cause of corrosion or whether the protection was properly performed.
Where a defect in the performed service is established, Old School Cars will act in accordance with the customer's statutory rights and the terms of the voluntary warranty.
13. Acceptance of Terms
Before the work begins, the customer is informed of the scope of the service, the work procedure, the areas to be treated, and the components and surfaces to which protection will not be applied.
By signing the work order, quotation, or other document confirming the order of the service, the customer confirms that they have been informed of and have accepted the terms stated in this document.
These terms form an integral part of the quotation and documentation relating to the completed anti-corrosion protection service.
